One of the oldest churches still standing in today’s Yangon is the Armenian Apostolic Church of St. John the Baptist in Kyauktada township. It was built in 1862 and consecrated the year after. Armenian traders had established a presence in Burma long before the onset of British colonization, as early as the 17th century.
